Aadhar Card

What a master stroke to bring modernity to the civil society in our country! Can one imagine the incredible utility the Aadhar Card will have for the citizens of the State and the country? This card will be the `lifeline’ of any citizen and his/ her unique identification as Indian national with unique number.  On the basis of this card, a citizen will be entitled for any benefit including, job, ration card, gas/water/power connection, passport, purchase of any property, vehicle, open bank account, prepare any category or other certificate, take admission in school-college, effect bank transactions, prepare PAN Card, draw any sort of pension/stipend or take any subsidy from the Government or benefit of many Government schemes. Country’s further planning will depend on the data prepared by the Registrar General of India.
The process has been set in motion and it is expected that by 31 March 2014the task of generating 90 lakh cards for the citizens of the State. Home Ministry has deployed a huge manpower to undertake the process. The process of enrollment is to set up enrollment camps in mohallas/villages and localities where people would come and the official staff deployed on assignment will take their biometrics etc. The Electronic Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) has been authorized o generate the National Population Register Smart Card called NPR Smart Cards or Aadhar Cards. Finally the date goes to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIAI) and then Citizens’ Registration Authority of India, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, which will provide the NPR Smart Cards to the citizens.
For the citizens of the State this card will have great relieving effect in the sense that owing to militancy, the security agencies are obliged to make thorough identification of people at sensitive places and situations. Many a time innocent people are put to great inconvenience. For example for opening bank account, so many documents and proofs are required to be produced by way of identification. Now with an Aadhar Card in hand, a citizen is saved of the hassle of proving his identity or obtaining a document of transacting a business. It is as good as a passport, and practically more useful than a passport. We hail the decision of the Government for realizing the urgency of generating smart cards for the people.
The exercise has already begun in some districts of Jammu and soon it will gain momentum. It is now in the interests of the people that they should not miss The Aadhar Card is virtual authority to any citizen when he is to cast vote in assembly or parliamentary elections.
