Court acquits murder accused, passes strictures against cops

JAMMU, Dec 23: 2nd Additional Sessions Judge Jammu, Nighat Sultana today acquitted alleged murder accused Dilawar Singh alias Bhola, who was facing trial and investigation for the last 11 years.
After hearing APP for the State whereas Advocate Rajesh Kotwal for the accused, 2nd Additional Sessions Judge expressed anguish/displeasure over the tainted investigation and observed that the revelation made by the police officer amounting to gross mis-conduct and mis-use of official position by his superiors needs to be probed thoroughly.
“A copy of statement made by prosecution witness (police official) namely Ajay Suman along with copy of this judgment shall be forwarded to DGP, who shall hold a probe in the matter so as to ascertain the facts”, the Court said, adding “DGP should get the matter investigated from an officer not below the rank of IGP preferably through Vigilance or Crime Branch wings of JKP”.
