22 pilgrims hurt in mishap

REASI, Dec 23: Twenty-two pilgrims hailing from Uttar Pradesh were injured, when the bus they were traveling in met with an accident due to brake failure and later turned turtle near Bharkh on Reasi-Katra road.
The ill-fated bus bearing registration number UT71T-0371 and carrying pilgrims was on its way back to Uttar Pradesh from Shiv Khori Shrine, when the accident took place due to brake failure of the vehicle near Bharkh, falling under the jurisdiction of Pouni Police Station, resulting into injuries to 22 pilgrims.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
All the injured were shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Pouni and District Hospital Reasi in police and other vehicles, from where they were later referred to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Katra for advanced treatment.
One seriously injured passenger identified as Alpna Diwedi, daughter of Sham Diwedi of district Jalwan, Uttar Pradesh was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu.
The condition of the injured admitted in SDH Katra was stated to be out of danger, when last reports came in.
The injured have been identified as Anjali, wife of Vishal, Dinesh, son of Shiv Nath, Sarla Devi, wife of Karim Din, Meena Devi, wife of Rakesh, Aman, son of Tulsi, Rubi, wife of Purshotam, Sharda, wife of Hari Om, Guddi, wife of Vijay, Davinder, son of Baghi Pal, Nirla Devi, wife of Sham Bihari, Tania, daughter of Shiv Ram, Subanshu Khatri, son of Sanjay Khatri, Uma Ram, son of Sanjay, Manoj Sahu, son of Rajan Kumar, Kanta Prasad, son of Omkar Prasad, Babita Porbal, wife of Sarvesh Porbal, Kirti Diwedi, daughter of Sham Diwedi, Mamta, wife of Survesh, Sourabh Gupta, son of Umesh Gupta, Geeta Devi, wife of Rakesh Yadav and Aradhna Devi, daughter of Rama Kant, all residents of district Jalwan, Uttar Pradesh.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Pouni Police Station and investigation started.
