KV’s Regional Sports meet begins

JAMMU, Aug 17: A two day-long 52nd Regional Sports Meet (Athletics) 2023 was inaugurated in Kendriya Vidyalaya Group Centre, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) here today.
There were 155 students from 19 different Kendriya Vidyalayas of the Jammu Region who participated with much fervour and passion. Rakesh Sethi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), CRPF, Jammu was the Chief Guest and Islam Khan, Assistant Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Jammu Region was the Guest of Honour on this occasion.
Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant, CRPF, Jammu and Nominee Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee, Kendriya Vidyalaya, GC, CRPF, Bantalab was the special invitee on the occasion. During the Opening Ceremony, students from different Vidyalayas of the region displayed their marching abilities and saluted the chief guest.
Islam Khan mentioned that Sports is not only about competition, but it is also about having fun, being physically active and learning the basics of Sports. The chief guest also appreciated the enthusiasm amongst the participants and said that we all learn more outside the class through the medium of sports which is like a rejuvenating therapy for all.
The highlights of the day included 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m race, Shot put and Javelin throw under three different categories- Under 14, 17 and 19 Boys respectively.
Meanwhile, Kendriya Vidyalaya No-1, Jammu also organized 52nd Kendriya Vidyalaya Regional Sports Meet 2023 today. Badminton, Chess, Skating, Swimming, Diving, Wrestling and Gymnastics are some of the games that will be held in Under-17 and Under-19 age categories during the event.
GS Mehta, Assistant Commissioner Jammu Region was present as chief guest. Principal KV No. 1 Jammu, Amit Walter extended green welcome to the guests. The Assistant Commissioner declared the Sports Meet Open and enlightened all the students gathered there about true sportsmanship and playing games with that spirit. There were 149 students from 26 Kendriya Vidyalayas along with 31 escort teachers participating in this Regional Sports Meet.
