J&K Shooters Shine at Nat’l C’ship

JAMMU, Aug 17: J&K Shooters under the banner of the Jammu & Kashmir Rifle Association (JKRA) exhibited exemplary performance in the recently concluded India Open Competition Air Weapons 2023 held at the M P State Shooting Academy in Goregaon, Bhopal.
The championship was organised between 10 to 16 August, bringing home an impressive haul of gold and silver medals and glory to the Union Territory of J&K.
In the Champion of Champions (COC) competition, Aneesha Sharma exhibited remarkable skill and precision, securing the 2nd rank in the women’s category. Similarly, Akul Mengi showcased his prowess by achieving the 2nd rank in the senior men’s category, further bolstering the achievements of the J&K team.
In the individual categories, Aneesha Sharma emerged as a standout performer, clinching the gold medal in both the senior women’s rifle category and the junior women’s rifle category. The consistently impressive performance of Aneesha demonstrated her dedication and proficiency in the sport.
Akul Mengi exhibited his exceptional marksmanship by securing the gold medal in the youth men’s rifle category, showcasing his potential as a rising star in shooting sports. Shreya Charak’s remarkable efforts were also acknowledged as she secured the bronze medal in the Sub youth Pistol Category, highlighting her talent and dedication to the sport.
The team events witnessed an equally spectacular performance from the J&K UT shooters. In the senior women’s rifle category, the trio of Aneesha Sharma, Shimani, and Raveena clinched the silver medal, demonstrating their synergy and teamwork. The junior women’s rifle category saw another triumphant display as Aneesha Sharma, Raveena, and Pragya secured the gold medal, showcasing the depth of talent in the J&K team.
