Santoor Maestro ‘Pandit Ji’ interacts at Sangeet Mahotsav

JAMMU, Dec 26: A live interaction session of Padma Vibushan Santoor Maestro, Shiv Kumar Sharma was held at Parade Women College Auditorium in the concluding ceremony of 6th season of Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsav, here today.
Pandit Ji interacted with the students of Music, Music instructors and intellects of the society on the occasion.
The event was organized by Nirvana Academy-A Cultural Club in collaboration with Government College for Women Parade and supported by Hotel Swastik and KC Biscuits.
Earlier, Pandit Ji was received by Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu, College Principal, Hemala Aggarwal and Suhail Kazmi alongwith with the members of Nirvana Academy and students of NSS Unit of the College.
Educationist and social entrepreneur, Akhila Sharma gave a brief report about the history, mission and goals of Sangeet Mahotsav, organized by Nirvana Academy every year in the memory of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma, father and Guru of Shiv Kumar Sharma.
During interaction, Pandit Ji emphasized the importance of classical music to keep it alive for preserving our culture. He gave some valuable tips to the young artists and promised to devote more time to make Mahotsav world class.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Narinder Singh Jamwal, Ex Mayor, while speaking on the occasion hoped that Mahotsav will inspire other students of Music to win laurels for their Gurus and the society at large.
Mr Shantmanu presided over the function, while Hemala Aggarwal presented welcome address and Sohail Kazmi also spoke on the occasion.
Classical Music was also presented by young artists alongwith disciple of Pandit Ji on the occasion.
Later, Pandit Ji presented trophies and certificates to the participants.
Prof Neeru Dhalla presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Parduman Singh Jindrahia, Krishan Lal Verma, Naresh Sharma, Umesh Sharma, Pawan Kumar Shastri, Amit Kumar, Meenakshi Sharma, Suresh Sharma, Varinder Raina and Deepak Sharma.
