Launch sustained campaign to educate people about welfare schemes: Javid

JAMMU, Dec 26: Deputy Chairman Legislative Council, Javid Rana today directed the Social Welfare and Rural Development Departments to launch a sustained campaign to educate rural and down trodden people about the welfare and poverty elevation schemes being implemented by the two departments.
Chairing a meeting of the officers of the two Departments attended by the Panchayat members and political leaders of Hiranagar and Poonch, Rana asked the Government functionaries to work with utmost dedication and organize awareness campaigns in their respective areas to educate the people about the schemes meant for the weaker sections and downtrodden people. He called upon Panches and Sarpanches to aware general masses about the welfare schemes launched by the State and Central Governments.
Responding to demands projected by the participants, Mr. Rana directed the concerned officers to prepare developmental projects under their respective sectors.
He asked the Panchs and Sarpanchs to cooperate with the officers in framing the developmental projects to ensure need based development. He said that funds were not a problem but need was to project the demands and identify the areas which need immediate attention.
Earlier, the officers of Rural Development and Social Welfare Departments briefed the Dy. Chairman about the initiatives taken by their respective departments for the development and welfare of the people of these areas.
The Deputy Chairman asked the Social Welfare authorities to conduct a survey in these areas and identify the deserving persons who have not been covered under IAY so far and prepare their lists immediately and forward to the concerned quarters for early sanction.
Among others, Assistant Development Commissioner, Kathua and Poonch, District Social Welfare Officer, Kathua, Block Development Officers of Hiranagar, Block Barnoti, a good number of Panches and Sarpanches were  present in the meeting.
