LEH, Dec 26: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora and CEC LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today inaugurated newly constructed 80 feet span Baily Bridge over Phyang Nallah at Mankhang.
The bridge constructed under MPLAD and flood restoration scheme has been completed at a cost of Rs 98.56 lakh.
They also inaugurated 15 meter span steel bridge at Saboo Nallah at Mayak Saboo constructed at a total cost of Rs 85 lakh under Special Task Force.
Addressing pubic gathering at Phyang and Saboo villages, the Minister appreciated the present Council headed by CEC Rigzin Spalbar for its remarkable achievements in Leh district, particularly for paying special attention towards the upliftment of rural people.
Mr Jora said that present Hill Council, with its efficient and clean work culture is not only known in J&K but in entire country. The Minister appreciated the team of the Executive Councilors and Councilors of LAHDC for their committed efforts and achievements in Leh district.
Stressing upon the public representatives especially Sarpanchs, Jora urged them to strengthen present Hill Council by involving themselves fully in the developmental programmes of LAHDC and better delivery.
At Phyang, the people of Thangnak demanded black topping of Chosgo -Mankhang road, improvement of power supply and construction of a Sarai at Imambara Thangnak.
The Sarpanch of Saboo village also projected the local demands including upgradation of Mayak road, improvement of power supply, financial assistance for fruit processing centre Saboo and early completion of training of Saboo Nallah.
The Minister assured that their grievances will be redressed on priority. He also announced to provide Rs 2 lakh for fruit processing center Saboo.
The Councilor Phyang Constituency Tsering Sonam, while briefing the developmental activities, said works worth Rs 140 crore are under progress in Saboo village.
The Minister was accompanied by EC Tourism Mohammad Shafi Lassu, EC Agriculture Sonam Dorje, Councilor Ghulam Saidin, SSP, Leh, ADC and District officers and engineers.
