JAMMU, Aug 29: All India Backward Classes Federation (AIBCF) and OBC Mahasabha projected the issues of the Backward Classes and alleged that they are not being provided their legitimate share in the Government jobs in the Jammu and Kashmir.
While speaking at the joint press conference here today senior member FC Satia, president AIBCF alleged that Revenue authorities are harassing the community members in getting OBC certificates. He said Revenue authorities are fully aware of the procedure and eligibility criteria for Central OBC certificate and OBC people are being deprived of Central OBC quota. He demanded provincial level workshop of all Tehsildars to remove their doubts and make them aware of the rules prescribed Govt of India.
Satia further demanded to induct one OBC member in SEBC Commission and remove general castes from the OBC list.
Balwant Kataria, gen secretary AIBCF demanded that State list of Social castes was changed in SRO-294 but Central list was not updated (Gazette notification pending). An immediate action is required in this regard. He expressed serious concern over the difference in state and central list of OBCs. SRO-294 was adopted in 2005 but same was not sent to Govt of India for updation of Central list of OBCs.
Kataria further demanded to remove disparity in eligibility criteria and nomenclature of OBC in UT and Centre. He pointed out that , with the change of nomenclature from OSC to OBC, criteria should also be same as it is in case of OBC.
Bansi Lal Choudhary, Convener OBC Mahasabha, stated that representation of OBCs in Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj in J&K is meager. He demanded that reservation in Urban Local Bodies and in Panchyati Raj system as per article 243D-6 and 243T-6 of Constitution of India, should be implemented for due representation of OBCs in J&K UT.
Raj Kumar Chalotra from Vishwakarma Sabha demanded restoration of OBC scholarship which has been stopped by Social Welfare Department. Chalotra said that for the last two years, OBC students are not getting the scholarship sponsored by Govt of India. As a result thousands of OBC students have left their studies.
