Five-day long J&K Squash C’ship declared open

SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Administrative Officer of J&K Sports Council, Sheikh Riyaz, declared open the 22nd J&K UT Squash Championship, here today.
Muzaffar Hussain (Divisional Sports Officer, Kashmir) grace the opening ceremony as guest of honour while as Zaffar (Technical Officer, J&K Sports Council) and Hilal Ahmad (Deputy Manager, Gindun Sports Centre, Srinagar) were present as special guests.
The 5-day championship is being organized by J&K Squash Rackets Association with support of J&K Sports Council at Squash Complex, Gindun Stadium Rajbagh, Srinagar. All reputed sports personalities, sports promoters and sports lovers were present to witness the opening ceremony of this mega event.
Chief Guest, Sheikh Riyaz on opening ceremony of the championship highlighted the tremendous steps taken for development and promotion of Squash Sport by J&K Sports Council and J&K Squash Rackets Association. He said from last couple of years Squash sports is taking great height in J&K. He said that newly constructed Squash courts uplift the sport of Squash in Valley.
In the five-day championship, more than 428 players from 11 districts of J&K are participating in Under- 11 (Boys & Girls), Under – 13 (Boys & Girls), Under- 15 (Boys & Girls), Under -19 (Boys & Girls), Under – 21 (Boys & Girls), Senior Men & Women and Men’s Over 35 categories.
Forty-two matches were played today in U- 11 and U-13 categories in both sections of boys and girls.
