Women’s Weightlifting League held

JAMMU, Sept 3: In keeping with its culture of promoting sports among all sections of society equally, Women Weightlifting League was conducted by J&K Weightlifting Association in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) under the guidelines of Weight Lifting Federation of India, here today.
Around 100 women weightlifters, parents and officials from different districts of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir took part in the single day event. Mohd Hanif Chief Sports Officer, JKSC was the chief guest on this occasion who applauded the organisers for organising such an event for the empowerment of women. “Understand the women’s contribution and divine values existing that had changed many defeats into victories” Hanif remarked.
“Sports council has also planned to organise a Dangal expecting 14 to 15 thousand participation of people in R.S Pura before Dashara celebrations” this was stated by Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer Jammu who attended the League function as guest of honour.
Earlier Mr. Youdhvir Singh General Secretary of Weightlifting Association presented the welcome address, prominent among those present on the occasion included Harbajan Singh president J&K Weightlifting Association, Ravi Singh former DSO, Daljeet Singh DSP former weightlifting player, Inderpal Singh Dhanraj Singh Salathia, Aakash virthy, technical officials from the association.
