JAMMU, Dec 28: Team effort helped Samar Cricket Club Jammu to defeat Lions Cricket Club Satwari by a margin of 50 runs to enter the semifinals of the ongoing Mahant Bachhitter Singh Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Simbal Welfare Association at Government High School ground, Simbal today.
Earlier, batting first, Samar scored a fighting total of 159 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ashu, Siddharth Mangotra and Monu contributed 34, 37 and 28 runs to the total respectively. Vicky was the wrecker-in-chief for Lions Club Satwari, who bagged 5 wickets, while Bansi bagged 3 wickets. Vishal and Hardeep claimed one wicket each.
Lions Club, in reply bundled out for 109 runs in 18 overs to lose the match by 50 runs. Romi and Kaka contributed 19 runs each, while Sanju scored 16 runs. Sidharth bagged 4 wickets for Samar Club, while Kaka scalped 3 wickets. Chetan and Bablu shared one wicket each. Sidharth was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh Kali and Bablu as umpires, while Swaran Singh was the scorer.
Young Star Simbal will take on UCC Jammu in the first semifinal tomorrow, while in another semifinal Samar Cricket Club will face Dashmesh Club Gadigarh on Tuesday at the same venue.
