JAMMU, Dec 30: Volunteer retirement given and other retired employees of the State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) held a strong protest rally at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here today.
A large number workers under the banner of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association led by Dev Raj Bali assembled near Press Club and started protest demonstration in support of their demands. They were raising loud slogans against the SRTC management and the State Finance and Transport department.
Carrying banners and placards in hands, they projected their demands raising loud slogans. They alleged that despite many dharnas, representations to the Government and holding meetings with senior officers, the Management of the SRTC has failed to address their pending issues.
They are demanding that their pending dues be cleared as the State Finance Department is said to have paid Rs 30 crore to the Corporation for this purpose. They demanded that pending 6th Pay Commission arrears, 126 slabs of COLA be paid without any more delay.
They also tried to start their protest march towards Dogra Chowk but the police did not allow. They sought the intervention of Chief Minster in this regard and claimed that they would be forced to intensify their struggle if their demands are not met.
Prominent among others included Kulbir Singh, B V Sharma, Prem Nath, Surjit Singh, Asan Elahi, D N Sharma, Sain Mohd and Subash Singh.
