JAMMU, Sept 28: Rahul Sahai, Chair PHDCCI Jammu, called on Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) and pitched for more coordination between Tourism Department of Jammu, Shrine Board and District Administrations for efforts to prolong stay of pilgrims in Jammu.
Rahul Sahai said that idea of this coordination is to prolong the stay of pilgrims in Jammu City and Division which in return can uplift the economy of Jammu.
“As Jammu is known as City of Temples and the most famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine has been attracting maximum religious tourists, it is suggested to showcase Jammu’s tourist destinations like Jamboo Zoo, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Sidhra, Jammu Tawi Golf course, Beating Retreat at Suchetgarh , Gandola at Jammu , Raghunath Temple, Bawe Wali Mata Temple, Bagh-e-Bahu Light & Sound Show, Kol Kandoli Temple, Patnitop, Sanasar, Bani, Basoli, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah tourist destinations, International Yoga Centre at Mantalai, Shiv Khori etc in and around Katra,” he said.
Sahai pointed out that there are no hoardings on Nandani – Katra road for showcasing Jammu’s Tourist destinations for attracting yatris to visit Jammu’s tourist destinations. He stressed that there should be vibrant promotion through LED screens of videos of Jammu’s tourist destinations in Katra bazars, Ban Ganga to Bhawan road, Railaway Station of Katra etc.
Sahai said Yatra slip counters have all the data such as Mobile number , email address etc of the visiting pilgrims and detailed document regarding Jammu’s attractions should be sent on pilgrims’ WhatsApp, email besides physically distributing pamphlets to the yatris with links of bookings defined in the message so that it could be easier to plan for Yatris to prolong their stay in Jammu .
Anshul Garg gave the patient hearing to these suggestions and assured that shortly they will get these works done. Garg also shared that Govt is of the same view that pilgrims should spent some more nights in Jammu and Katra and any suggestion in this regard is welcomed. He said the organizations like PHDCCI should plan programs to deliberate on the issue.
