JAMMU, Oct 1: J&K Climbers brought laurels to the Union Territory in Speed Climbing by winning three medals at 27th North Zone Sport Climbing Championship, which commenced at Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi today.
In a tough competition against an International climber Ritika Rawat of Delhi, Shilpa Charak of Jammu won a silver medal in the women’s category while two other fresh climbers of J&K, Kafeel Ul Haq of Pulwama and Ankit Singh of Kishtwar secured a silver and a bronze medal respectively.
Ayaana Bhagat also gave a creditable performance in her maiden Zonal competition and entered the quarter final in speed Climbing where she faced an experienced National Climber from Delhi and despite her best efforts could not match her rival’s speed.
Till the last reports, Speed Climbing competitions in Men and Junior Boys categories in which J&K climbers are competing were in progress.
