JAMMU, Oct 1: Sikh Naujawan Sabha Bandhurakh and Bandurakh Hockey Club under the aegis of Hockey J&K inaugurated a knockout tournament to pay homage to martyred Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Aashish Dhonchak and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Humayun Bhat at Bandurak Hockey Stadium here today.
A total 12 teams participating in this tournament such as AKS Club Digiana, Society of Sports Kunjwani, Bandurakh Hockey Club, MBS Hockey Club, Hiranagar Hockey Club, Dashmesh Hockey Club, Khalsa Club, Sonipat XI, Pathankot XI, Gurdaspur XI,157 TA and Sham Lal Hockey Academy Poonch.
On the opening day, two matches were played. First match was played between Sonipat XI and Pathankot XI in which Pathankot beat Sonipat by 5-1. The match was officiated by Dalvinder Singh and Jagjit Singh. The second match was played between Khalsa Club and 157 TA in which Khalsa Club beat 157 TA by 4-3. The final match of the tournament will be played on October 5.
