RAMBAN, Oct 4: In the run-up to the National Unity Day, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a women bike expedition from three corners of the country, Srinagar, Shillong and Kanyakumari to Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat.
In the rally 150 women bikers will undertake 10,000 kilometre long journey, through fifteen states and two union territories that will finally culminate on 31 October at Statue of Unity, Kevadia.
A team of 50 bikers, on 25 bikes was flagged off from historic Lal Chowk Srinagar who reached Headquarters of 84 Battalion CRPF Boom Chanderkote, Ramban on Tuesday after, night-halt they further preceded to their destination in presence of 200 CRPF personnel, school children from Govt High School and Kamal Academy Chanderkote, in Ramban here today.
The women bikers also interacted with the girl students, who were seemingly inspired by their courage and determination of the CRPF Yashaswini Bikers.
Rajesh Dhakarwal, DIG CRPF, stated that the rally is being organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He said CRPF is the only force with maximum representation of women. The women personnel of CRPF had made significant contributions in safeguarding the nation and have brought laurels to the country. N Ranbir Singh, Commandant 84 Battalion CRPF highlighted about the various initiatives taken up by the Government for the empowerment of women.
