Paloura Talab requires a facelift

I would like to bring your kind notice the insanitary conditions prevailing at Paloura Talab near Jamkash Service Station and need of improvement of park/children playing facilities and installation of modern equipment swings (Jhulla) etc at Paloura Talab. It is a very old and ancient pond (Talab) situated at upper Paloura, surrounded by Bua Datti’s Mandir, Lord Shiva and Shanijis Mandir. It is also a very big pond but not maintained by any Govt Agency/scheme and whole of the pond is infested with green grass and polluted by stagnated water due to which there is every possibility of spreading Dengue. One year ago, some pathway along with fencing was constructed by the Municipal Corporation, Jammu. Thereafter, they did not complete the whole constuction work and left the construction at the middle and did not install any children playing facilities like swing, joint wheel, wings, See-saw, push up rods, sitting chairs facilities etc. The concerned Agency did not even make the landscaping of the park and plantation, flowers for beautification of the park etc. At morning a number of morning walkers and children are coming there to enjoy the healthy environment but due to lack of above-mentioned modern facilities or equipments, they feel dejected.
It is, therefore, requested to the concerned officials to look into the matter, and redress the issue at the earliest.

Plea to DG Defence Estate Deptt New Delhi
We the bonafide owners of land located and situated in Kehli Mandi Tehsil and District Samba submit that some 400 Kanals of land was hired and requisitioned by the Indian Army for construction of Army Camp and accommodation in the year 1948 and is in possession of the Army till date vide KAS-7335/LH. Meantime a meager rent is being paid since the village is included in Municipal Council Samba
This is to draw the attention of Director General Defence E-State Deptt. New Delhi that our entire agricultural land is occupied by the Army and there is no space even for house construction for increasing population. The village is surrounded on oneside by National Highway, on the other sides by Link Road, Border Road and the Army. The owners comprising of three hundred families of ex-serviceman, widows, senior citizens and unemployed youth are requesting to acquire the said land permanently on priority basis and pay the cash in accordance with Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013.
There is a sea change in respect of cost of land, cost of fruit, employment opportunities and dearness since the times this land was acquired by Army.
Hope, the concerned authorities would give a due thought to our plea.

Maintain open gyms in Jammu city
It is a commendable step taken by Jammu Municipality to install open gym equipments in almost all parks in and around Jammu city. We all know that doing workout is a good thing for our physical and mental health. But the sad part of this entire exercise is that these equipments are not maintained on regular intervals. Half of the equipment installed at Sec-3 Trikuta Nagar parks since long are out of service which cause not only incovenience to the people of the locality but also a great loss to the exchequer. AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) for all public utilities services should be a part of agreement for efficient use of these services. Immediate corrective steps need to be taken by the concerned authority for resolution of this problems.

Shift garbage dumps in Udhampur city

We want to draw the attention of the District Administration Udhampur, Udhampur Municipal Council towards the insanitary conditions in front of meat shops in Udhampur City.
Heaps of garbage are seen lying scattered here and there notwithstanding the Government claims about the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make India clean and green.
People visiting the market are forced to cover their mouth as foul smell emanates from the garbage dumps.
These dumps have become quite problematic as these have vitiated the whole atmosphere in the area.
The meat market shopkeepers have been requesting the authorities to shift these dumps to somewhere else, but no one in administration bothers to do so.

Construct Sulabh Toilet Complex in Ward No. 49
I would once again wish to invite kind attention of JMC on absence of Sulabh Toilet facility in the entire area of Chhanni Rama in Ward No 49 and its adjoining area.
It is pertinent to mention that there are hundreds of slum dwellings in vacant plots and temporary shelters where thousands of migrants and Rohingyas are staying without toilet facilities. In the absence of toilet facilities the occupants living in slums indulge in open defecation thereby emanating filthy and stinky environment in the entire area.
Surprisingly there is not even a single public toilet in Chhanni Rama that constitutes major area of Ward No.49.It may not out of context to mention that 2-3 days ago, there was a flash news of achieving overall target of 75 percent ODF by J&K UT.But here in Chhanni Rama the ODF achievement is far less and reveals quite a different picture.
The original inhabitants of the area are compelled to live under unhygienic and stinky environment merely due to open defecation by hundreds of slum dwellers in close proximity of Chhanni Rama especially around Guru Ravi Dass Mohalla. In light of the above facts, I reiterate my appeal to Jammu Municipal authorities to consider construction of at least one toilet especially along nallah near BPCL Depot and FCI Godown where huge number of slum dwellings and temporary shelters are located.
