Katra, Oct 9: J&K Police wrestler Nadeem lifted 51st annual Tote (Bhomag) Dangal title by defeating Wrestler Sonu of Kathua, Akhara Laliyan (Punjab) in main 1st malli bout that lasted for 17 minutes at Tote near Forest Rest House Reasi here today.
Nadeem was cash awarded with Rs 12,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gadda) and Patta while runner-up wrestler Sonu got Rs 9,000. Dangal was organized by Bheem Devta Dangal Committee Bhomag in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Sarpanch Laldeep Singh, Novil Singh, Subash Singh and Vinod Singh.
DDC Chairman Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the wrestlers. The bouts were officiated by Nazir Ahmed, Kartar Singh, Tulinder Kumar and Murli Dhar (Munna). There were 90 bouts played in Dangal and a total Rs 2, 70,000 was distributed as cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Senior Citizens Welfare Committee Katra (Regd.) and Senior Vice-President Indian Style Wrestling Association of India honoured prominent social activist Punjab Singh, age 90 years of Village Kothri and Sarpanch Luldeep, President of host Dangal committee by presenting them Mata Ki Chunnari and Turban in presence of Saraf Singh Nag.
