JAMMU, Oct 11: Shemford Futuristic School (SFS) organized an Inter-school bilingual turncoat debate competition under the banner of Jammu Sahodaya School complex with the topic “Impact of Smart Phones on human IQ”, showcasing the awe-inspiring talent of young debaters from various schools in the region. The event witnessed an overwhelming participation of 20 schools.
Dr. Kusum Chib, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Samba was the chief guest; Rekha Mahajan, District President BJP, Jammu South as the guest of honour and Dr. Sadaf Shah, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, University of Jammu as a special guest.
The panel of judges consisted of Dr. Purshotam Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Hindi, University of Jammu; Dr. Chetna Gupta, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Govt. Degree College, Kathua and Dr. Neena Gupta Vij, Senior Assistant Professor Deptt of English Central University of Jammu.
The competition witnessed fierce yet insightful debate on relevant and thought-provoking topics highlighting the eloquence and critical thinking abilities of the participating students. Dr Kusum Chib emphasized on the significance of debate competitions in developing young minds and fostering a culture of healthy competition. Rekha Mahajan encouraged them to continue engaging in such intellectual pursuits as they contribute greatly to personal growth and skill development.
However, this competition was not limited to debate alone. In addition, students presented a plethora of colorful and captivating cultural activities, adding an extra layer of excitement and showcasing the rich diversity of our society.
The results of debate competition were Ist position got to Army Public School BD Bari (Tanisha Sharma); 2nd Position to APS Damana, (Neelakshi Sharma); 3rd Position to Shemford Futuristic School, (Mannat Choudhary); Ist consolation prize to Heritage School, (Aasvi Bhardwaj); 2nd consolation to Jammu Sanskriti, (Hargun Anand­) and 3rd consolation to APS Jammu Cantt, (Binwant Singh).
