JAMMU, Oct 16: The 34th North Zone Junior Athletics Championship which had commenced yesterday ended here today at synthetics athletics track at Jammu University.
In the championship about 1000 athletes and officials from nine States and Union Territories were participated.
The efforts in this regard was put up by Suneel Mahajan, President, JK Olympic Association and the arrangements were made for by J&K Amateur Athletics Association including boarding and lodging. The championship is being conducted under the overall supervision of Sharat Chander Singh, Organizing Secretary of the Championship.
Number of Sports luminaries from J&K UT including Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma, former President J&K Athletics Association and presently President J&K Olympic Association, Dushyant Sharma, Former President Wrestling Federation of India among many other dignitaries were present.
On the occasion, Ravinder Singh, Vice President, Ajay Sharma, Vainder Kour, Rajesh Sharma Vinod Bhatia, Sahil Sharma, Mandeep Kour and other members of the organizing committee were also present.
Addressing the participants, Suneel Mahajan said that with the help of sports council, department of youth services and sports and JK Olympic Association, we care capable to conduct such an event in Jammu.
The winners of 1500 M run in boys category were Chaoudhary Himansh(UP), APBF 105836 Nitin (Delhi), and Deep Singh (Punjab), while in 2000 m event the boys who were the winners included Anil Kumar (UP), Badal (U’Khand) and Manish (Delhi).
The winners of 2000 m event the girls were Sakhsi Singh (UP), Manisha (U’Khand), Neetu (Delhi)and Lashami Kaur (Punjab).
