JAMMU, Oct 17: The Fencing (Men) Championship organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, commenced at University Fencing Hall here today.
The results of today’s competitions were GDC Reasi, team comprised of Sunil Roy, Devinder Singh, Rahul Sharma & Sourav Verma won gold medal.
The silver medal went to GDC Poonch, team comprised of Mohd. Umar, Tahir Irfan, Imran and Mohd.Sadeeq won bronze medal to GDC Udhampur, team comprised of Surya Dev Singh, Fayaz Ahmed, Manthan Mehra and Surya Dev Singh.
In event; Foil team Men, gold medal to GDC Reasi, team comprised of Gourav Thakur, Bhanu Partab Singh, Atul Kumar & Mohinder Kohli. Silver Medal to GDC Udhampur, team comprised of Surya Dev Singh, Shokwat Rashid, Surya Dev Singh, & Kavaya Sharma. Bronze Medal to GDC Poonch, team comprised of Mohd. Sadeeq Mohd. Adrees & Mohd. Zahir.
Epee Team Men; Gold to GDC Reasi team comprised of Gourav Thakur, Nizaket Hussain, Mohd. Muneer & Neeraj Kumar, silver to GDC Udhampur team comprised of Kavya Sharma Fayaz Ahmed, Manthan Mehra & Showket Rashid.
Event Sabre Individual Men; gold to Suryansh Sharma (Trikuta Degree College), silver to Praney Singh (P. G Deptt.JU). Bronze to Rohit Sharma (GDC Reasi) and Devinder Singh of (GDC Reasi).
Earlier Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu declared the Championship open after introduction with the participating team’s players along with Rashid Ahmed Chouwdary (International Fencer) Mukesh Sharma & Sashi Kumar Sharma (Physical Directors).
The matches were officiated by Ajay Kumar, Veer Sangram Singh, Maninder Pal Singh, Adarsd Salathia, Ranchan Saberwal, Javed Ahmed Chouwdary and P.D Singh. Tomorrow the remaining individual events of the men section will be held.
