Pathetic batting display leads to J&K’s heavy thrashing

JAMMU, Oct 20: Pathetic display by all the batters lead to J&K’s heavy thrashing by 85 runs in the hands of strong Madhya Pradesh in the ongoing BCCI’s Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at Shaheed Vir Narayan Stadium Raipur today.
Earlier, put into bat, Madhya Pradesh scored a decent total of 140 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Anushka Sharma, Soumya Tiwari and Poonam Khemnar scored 34, 33 and 31 runs respectively. Poonam and Anushka were instrumental in giving their team a much needed opening stand of 65 runs in 9.2 overs, while unconquered Soumya ensured a great end to their innings.
In reply, J&K batters were out of sorts from the word go as none of them showed any application or grit to face disciplined Madhya Pradesh bowlers. The team managed to score just 55 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by a big margin of 85 runs. Rubia Syed was the only batter to cross the double figure mark, scoring 14 runs off 19 balls with 3 boundaries, while Anju contributed 7 runs to the total.
