JAMMU, Oct 22: A seminar on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 organised by Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) was held here today at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Katra.
The seminar was organised as a part of a series of similar activities organised to apprise people about different public welfare schemes.
On the occasion, Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag attended the cultural events as chief guest alongside Rajinder Chaudhry , Additional Director General (ADG), CBC/PIB, Chandigarh and J&K region.
Addressing a gathering, Nag commended the CBC for organising the multimedia exhibition and involving artists from different states in the cultural programmes. He said that people should take advantage of the information about welfare schemes displayed through the exhibits.
Chander Mohan, Associate Professor, Government Degree College, Katra gave a detailed presentation on NEP-2020.
Calling the policy futuristic and path breaking, Mohan said that NEP-2020 has been conceived to meet the aspirations of a new India. He said that the curriculum under NEP-2020 lays special emphasis on the foundational literacy, numeracy and imparting practical knowledge.
During the day students took part in various activities which included poetry recitation, elocution, dance, singing, painting and an open quiz competition.
Among others who were present during the event included Sham Lal Bhagat, Chairman, Block Development Council, Katra, Ghulam Abass, Joint Director, CBC, J&K and Ladakh Region and Dr. K. C Dogra former Deputy Director, J&K Health Services.
