JKP holds Dangal event at Doda

DODA, Oct 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) organized a wrestling (Dangal) Championship at Sports Stadium Doda in the memory of Police Martyrs under Civic Action Programme (CAP) here today.
The event was witnessed by a large number of people from all walks of life. Wrestlers from different parts of district Doda including renowned wrestlers from Punjab, Chandigarh, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi reached Doda and participated in this championship.
Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Doda was the chief guest whereas Ved Parkash, President MC Doda was the guest of honour. The chief guest complimented the efforts of Police in organizing such programme which not only bridge the gap between Public and Administration but also gives opportunity to sports persons to display their performance and skill in the field of Sports.
SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom said that police has been organizing a number of programmes under Civic Action Programme to mark respect and homage to those Martyrs who have given their today for our tomorrow and efforts are made by police to engage local youths to channelize their capability and capacity towards positive directions.
A total of 40 bouts were held including quarter final, semifinal, special bouts and the final bout of the Championship was held between Nadeem Ahmed of Bhalessa (Doda) and Rajesh Sharma from Udhampur in which Nadeem Ahmed emerged victorious. A cash prize of Rs 51,000 and Rs, 31000 was given to the winner and runner up respectively besides mementos, medals and certificates of participation were also given to the wrestlers who participated in the event.
