RAJOURI, Oct 29: Goods worth lakhs were burnt to ashes after a Karyana shop caught fire at Baddi Darhal in district Rajouri last night.
Reports said that the incident took place during last mid night. It was suspected that fire took place due to short circuit. After the tireless efforts of the villagers, the fire was brought under control, but by then everything was reduced to ashes.
Mohammad Shabbir, a resident of the village, closed his shop at night and went home and slept after having dinner. Suddenly, at midnight the shop caught fire due to suspected electrical short-circuit. Before people could understand anything, the fire took a huge form.
The owner of the shop and other family members, along with the local villagers, started pouring water, sand and soil to control the fire, but by then a lot of goods kept in the shop and the accounts kept in the wooden counter and some cash were also burnt.
