Shambavi’s knock in vain as Chhattisgarh drubs J&K in a close contest

JAMMU, Nov 3: Promising wicketkeeper batter Shambavi Rajput’s brilliant knock of 45-ball 43 runs went in vain as J&K eves lost to their counterparts from Chhattisgarh in a close contest at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Anand, Gujarat today.
Put into bat, J&K scored a modest total of 94 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Openers Shambavi Rajput and Manya Banotra were going great guns in the power-play and the duo scored 50 runs in the 9th over, before Manya departed at her individual score of 17 runs and the team’s total of 54 runs in the 11th over. Manya took 36 balls and smashed 2 boundaries in her knock. Shambavi continued brilliance and scored power-packed 43 runs, studded with 6 crispy boundaries. Skipper Ananaya Sharma scored a brisk 5-ball 11 runs including 2 boundaries, helping J&K score 94 runs in the allotted overs. In reply, Chhattisgarh chased the target in a close contest in 19.2 overs by losing 3 wickets to win the match by 7 wickets. Mansha and Aanshi Agrawal remained unconquered on 39 and 19 runs respectively. Mansha smashed 4 fours in her 52-ball knock, while Aanshi hit 2 boundaries in 23-ball innings. Sejal Verma also contributed 14 runs to the total. Medium pacers Mariya Noorain and Aanvi Singh claimed one wicket each for J&K.
