JAMMU, Jan 16: In a drive to generate awareness among general masses and among school going children about the ‘Tuberculosis’, a symposium was organized at Govt Higher Secondary School Ramgarh in Samba, today.
The programme was held under the supervision of State TB Cell, headed by Dr Gurjeet Singh Soodan, State TB Control Officer and Sponsored by District TB Centre Jammu headed by Dr Sujata Sharma DTO Jammu.
As a part of ACSM activities this Debate cum Symposium was organized to create awareness among students so that they can play a key role in their respective localities to generate the awareness about this deadly disease and persuade those persons who are TB symptomatic for taking further treatment at their nearest govt health centers under DoTs .
Dr Vinay Chib DTO Incharge Samba briefly explained about the causes and prevention of this disease and said that TB now-a-days is fully curable, provided a patient should take complete treatment which takes 6-8 months and its treatment is provided in Govt Health Centres totally free of cost.
Prizes were distributed among the students adjudged as best speakers.
Prominent among those present on the occasion were Parvinderjeet Kour Community Health Officer Ramgarh, Ashok Nanda STS TU Samba and Sunil Gupta Block Acctts Manager CHC Ramgarh.
