SAMBA, Nov 9: Taranjit Singh Tony, General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), DDC Suchetgarh and State President of Matsogi-Do Association has appealed to the public especially the parents to take children to the playgrounds in order to keep them away from drugs and electronic gadgets the menace of which has assumed serious dimensions today.
He expressed this in his address as chief guest of 3rd District Samba Matsogi-Do Championship held here today. Aditya Singh, State General Secretary and Sushant Kumar, Technical Advisor were the guests of honour on the occasion.
There were 350 students of 14 schools from across the district Samba who participated in the championship.
Tony emphasized that Sports is the only way to keep children away from electronic gadgets and drugs. He said that while drugs lead to devastation of the abuser, his/her family and the society at large, the electronic gadgets have deprived the children of physical activity which is as important as the mental development of children and youth. Tony said that in this campaign against drugs the educational institutions, teachers and the parents owe a significant responsibility of playing a proactive role to eradicate the menace. He said that the Govt should promote sports at village level so that the best talent will come out for participation in National and International level sports events.
Gurdeep Singh, General Secretary of Matsogi-Do Association informed that the winners of District Level Championship will participate in the State Level Tournament which is scheduled to start from 28 to 1 December at Indoor Stadium Bhagwati Nagar.
