AURANGABAD, Maharashtra, Jan 19: The Aurangabad forest department in association with Wildlife division of Maharashtra Tourism and Development Corporation (MTDC), Environment Research Foundation and Education Academy (ERFEA) and Nature Walk, Pune, has for the first time organised a three-day festival on birds at Aurangpura in the city from January 23.
Briefing newspersons here today, deputy conservator of forests A D Bhosale stressed on the need for protection of birds and said ‘The move also aims to boost tourism activity in the region.’
He said Paithan is located around 60 km away from the city and pointed that the bird watching would be conducted between 0700 hrs and 1100 hrs on the first day of the festival.
The forest department would also conduct a number of activities during the two days, he informed. ‘Participants would be shown films related to bird protection,photo exhibition and slide shows,’ Mr Bhosale said.
He further said that there will also be workshops on how to prepare artificial nests for birds and on wildlife photography.
On the first two days, these activities would be conducted near Jayakwadi reservoir, while on the third day the activities would be conducted in Jalna, around 60 km away from the city.
The entry to the festival would be free of cost. The forest department would make transport arrangements for first 50 people, he added.
