It is heartening for the people of Jammu region and especially of Dogri speaking belts to know that an effective way of promoting Dogri language among the people of State has been explored by interested parties. It has to be remembered that English, about which we say is the language of the future world society, is becoming very popular in our society. A language is generally considered item number one in the cultural inheritance of any community. If you want to deprive a community of its cultural foundation, just deny its language growth and space. The right way of promoting a particular dialect to the level of a charming language is that of producing literature in it especially history. Unfortunately Dogri literature has not been served well and brought on the page of major languages of the world. We need to have books in Dogri on various branches of learning especially history, current affairs, biographies, nationalistic literature etc.
We appreciate the idea that comics in Dogri should be published and given wide circulation among Dogri speaking people in which the indigenous culture of Jammu region is highlighted. People will love to read the stories of their heroes in their own language and through comic rendering. National level heroes, soldiers, artist, men of specialties and abilities all can be covered in comic literature essentially meant for the young people and kids. All efforts should be made to enrich Dogri literature. On individual level poets, writers, thinkers, literati, scholars one and all should independently also contribute to Dogri literature. We know that present history and cultural fund through comics is most engrossing for the young kids and that should be sufficiently promoted. Nothing can be as sweet and attractive as the mother tongue. And the way most subtle ideas are presented in mother tongue are not expressed in any other language.
