UP’s Kavya misses ton as J&K registers win by virtue of 1st innings lead

JAMMU, Nov 27: Kavya Teotia missed his century by a whisker as he was dismissed on 99 runs in Uttar Pradesh’s total of 336/6 in 102 overs, thus the match ended in a draw, however, J&K registered win by virtue of first innings lead in the Cooch Behar Trophy match at JKCA Hostel Ground, here today.
Earlier, trailing by 103 runs in the first innings, Uttar Pradesh resumed their innings from overnight total of 187/2 and scored 336/6 at the draw of stumps on the final day today.
Manav Sindhu, who was unbeaten on 103 runs off 168 balls, studded with 14 boundaries, was dismissed without adding any run to his overnight score, while Kavya Teotia, who was unbeaten on 24 runs scored magnificent 99 runs. Sushant also contributed sedate 37 runs off 63 balls.
For J&K, medium pacer Mousub Mohd Bhat bagged 2 wickets by conceding 57 runs in his 20 overs, while Bismaadh and Achintya Raj Khajuria claimed one wicket.
Earlier yesterday, resuming from 308/9, the duo of Zaid Ahmad and Mudasir Abdullah had made a record last wicket partnership of 119 runs for J&K and took the score to 427 runs before Zaid was dismissed at his individual score of 71 runs off 138 balls, studded with 6 boundaries and one six, while Mudasir contributed 58 runs off 66 balls including 9 boundaries. Both the batters hit a series of boundaries to take the bowlers on a leather-hunt.
Hatim Reyaz had slammed a classic century, while Kamaksh Sharma had scored splendid fifty and Achintya Raj Khajuria had contributed superb 48 runs.
For Uttar Pradesh, Shubham Mishra had taken 3 wickets, while Hitesh Kumar and Yasir Khan bagged 2 wickets each. Aditya Kumarn Singh and Yashu Pradhan claimed one wicket each.
By virtue of the first innings’ lead J&K has earned 3 points, while Uttar Pradesh got one point.
