JAMMU, Nov 30: A 19-year-old youth was kidnapped and stoned to death here today, police said.
They said the accused, Satinder Kumar (23) of Kishtwar at present Patoli, Jammu, has been arrested.
According to police, one Parhald Singh informed through PCR on November 29, 2023 that his son Raghav Jamwal alias Raghu of Nardani, Raipur Bantalab, was kidnapped by unknown person.
The deceased’s father approached police only after his son didn’t return from a computer training centre at Janipur.
Police parties from Police Post Chinnore and Police Station Domana immediately fanned out in the area and got to know that Raghav didn’t turn up at the coaching centre.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 355/2023 Under Section 363 of the IPC was registered at the concerned police station and SP Rural and SDPO Domana were directed to personally supervise the search conducted by the police parties.
Through human and technical intelligence, police finally zeroed-in the kidnapper from his rented accommodation at Patoli on the intervening nights of the November 29-30, 2023.
While the phone of the victim, which the accused was using to make ransom calls, was recovered from the possession of the accused, the former’s body was recovered from a forest area adjoining Raipur Khari-Jagti Link Road sans habitation.
According to police, the accused admitted to killing the victim with stone.
They said the accused and victim knew each other for the past 4-5 years.
Police have shifted the body of the deceased to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Jammu for conducting the post-mortem examination while as further investigation in the case is underway to unravel the circumstances leading to the crime.
