JAMMU, Dec 4: The 4th Caddy Golf tournament was organized by Jammu Golfers Association at Tawi Golf Course here today where 60 caddies from different golf clubs participated.
The tournament was tee off by R S Chib, former Sports Minister in presence of Bharat Sharma, J P Singh, former member Public Service Commission including many other dignitaries.
Amarjeet Singh, Special Secretary to the Tourism Department appreciated the organizers for organizing this tournament on a yearly basis, which provides an opportunity to the caddies to improve their knowledge in the different categories.
Muzaffar Hussain was the overall winner and Hafiz Ali was declared as the runner up. The other awards, such as longest drive, straight drive and nearest to pin were awarded to Prakash Chander, Arshad Ali and Balbir Singh, respectively.
R S Chib said the idea of such tournaments is to provide a platform to young caddies to excel in the field of Golf. Chib dealt at length the importance of the role of caddies, while accompanying the golfers. He further added that a professional caddy is of a great advantage to a golfer.
Prominent persons present on this occasion were Manmohan Singh, Former Mayor of JMC, Manav Gupta, Vijay Saraf, Former Secretary Amar Singh Club, Dr. Amarjeet Singh and Rohit Gupta.
