JAMMU, Dec 6: A married woman was gangraped by three people here on Monday night, police said.
The victim, who is a resident of Ramban town, was on her way towards her rented accommodation at Gadigarh area, when she was picked up by three people from BC Road Jammu here, who were travelling in a bus.
“They took the woman along with her minor son to an unidentified location, where they committed the crime with the woman,” police said, adding that the criminals also snatched away some money the woman was keeping with her.
Acting on the written complaint of the husband of the woman, police have registered a case FIR number 68/2023 under sections 376(D) and 382 of the IPC and started further investigation.
“We’ve arrested one of the accused and launched a manhunt to arrest the other two, who are absconding after the commissioning of the crime,” said a police spokesperson.
He added that the statements of the woman under section 164 CrPC would be recorded within a day or two.
