JAMMU, Jan 24: The students, staff and management of Lawrence Public School Jammu celebrated National Girl Child Day in its school premises, here.
A special assembly was conducted on this occasion, wherein the students and the teachers threw light on the importance of this day and the importance of empowering the girl child, besides reaffirming a commitment to protect the rights of every girl child.
Lavishing praise on the role of girls in the society, they said that the girls have to perform various duties as daughters, sisters and mothers, apart from their contribution in the field of education, medicine, sports, administration, politics and other important fields.
The speakers gave examples of the great women personalities in India and from across the World who work shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in-spite of facing so many challenges and hardships.
Later, the students pledged to protect the rights of the girls in our society, especially the under- privileged ones.
Shakuntla Joshi, founder Principal Lawrence Public School while speaking on the occasion said, “By educating a girl child you educate a family”.
