JAMMU, Dec 8: The Annual J&K Masters Athletics Championship concluded here today at MA Stadium Jammu which was conducted by J&K Masters Athletics Association under the aegis of J&K Sports Council.
Around 100 athletes from different parts of Union Territory participated in the championship. Baljinder Pal Singh Divisional Sports Officer was chief guest who distributed the medals to the winners. In the men section athletes from 35 to 80 years and women section from 30 to 65 years took part.
The results in 100m women’s run were (30 plus age) won by Anam Khan and (40) won by Kanu Priya, (45) Ritu Ahal, Anita Kumari (50) and Kanta Butyal (65). In the men’s section Nisar Ahmad Mir (35), Kundan Lal (40), Sanjeev Sharma (45), Chamail Singh (50), Rishi Kumar (60) and Govind Singh (70).
In the 200m Run; Tahir Ahmad, Sandeep Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Shivnandan Singh and Lal Chand won races in different age categories.
In the 400m run (women) won by Anuradha and Kanta Butyal while in the men’s section were Ankur Basotra, Sandeep Sharma, Rohit, Vinay Bargotra, Rishi Kumar and Samsher Singh.
In the 800m Run (Women) Shaweta Mittal and Sonia Sawhney while in men’s section Samvit Sharma, Mangat Singh, Riyaz Ahmad, Rakesh Kumar and Rampaul Kapoor win in different age categories.
In 1500m Run (Women) Shahida Parveen, Anju Chib and Sandeep Kour won in different age categories in men’s section Subash Angral, Tarlok Chand and Captain Tilak Raj.
In the 1500m Walk (women) Shahida Parveen, Shobana Kumari, Ramanjeet Kour, Manminder Kour, Sudesh Basotra. In Men Pankaj Mohan,Vinay Bargotra and Anil Katoch.
5000m Run (Women) Shahida Parveen, Shaweta Mittal, Anuradha and Manminder Kour. In Men Parveen Manhas, Abhishiek Sharma, Rohit, Satpal Gorka and Ajay Gandotra. Abdul Quyoom President, Tarseem Lal Bastora General Secretary and Rampual Kapoor organising secretary appreciated the winners and participants.
