J&K 83/7 against Uttarakhand’s 157; Jeevesh takes five wickets

JAMMU, Dec 11: Jammu and Kashmir were struggling at 83/7 after bundling out Uttarakhand for paltry 157 runs in their first innings of the ongoing Vijay Merchant Trophy match here today at DVR Ground, Mulapadu, Vijayawada. Jeevesh Gupta took a brilliant 5-wickets haul.
Batting first, Uttarakhand scored 157 runs in 50.4 overs. Mayank Mudila top scored with 39 runs, while Lakshya Raichandani contributed 38 runs to the total. Skipper Shourya (20) and Abhay Sharma (19) were the other contributors. Jeevesh Gupta was the wrecker-in-chief for J&K, who took 5 wickets by conceding 38 runs in 16.4 overs, while Arun Kumar and Irfan Ashraf took 2 wickets each.
In reply, J&K were 83/7 in 36.1 overs at stumps on Day-1 today. Saqib Ashraf (15), Shourya Chouhan (14), Rahil Younis (11), Shiva Thakur (11*) and Mohammad Shifaan were the batters who reached the double figure mark. Joshi took 3 wickets by conceding 20 runs in 7.1 overs, while Abhay Sharma bagged 2 wickets and Shourya claimed one.
