DGP sanctions meritorious scholarship of over Rs 33 lakh

Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU, Dec 14: The Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, RR Swain, has approved scholarships totalling Rs 29, 78, 000 for 582 wards of serving police personnel who achieved 80% and above marks in the class 10th exams in (replace of within) the academic year 2022-23.Notably, Rs 6000 each was granted to 325 wards scoring over 90%, and Rs 4000 each to 257 wards with marks above 80%.Simultaneously, a separate scholarship fund of Rs 3, 70, 400 was sanctioned for 72 wards of serving Special Police Officers (SPOs) excelling in class 10th and 12th. This included Rs 6000 each for 19 class 10th wards scoring above 90% marks, Rs 4000 each for 32 wards scoring above 80%, and Rs 7200 each for 2 class 12th wards scoring above 90%, with Rs 6000 each for 19 wards scoring above 80% marks.Noteworthy achievements among SPOs’ wards included Sarika Thakur securing 91.8% in class 12th, Adnan Sami with 91.6%, and Abhishek Balotra with 89.8%. In class 10th, Nikhil Singh scored 97.6%, Masroof Mushtaq achieved 97.4%, and Sargis Choudhary secured 97.2%.Similarly, outstanding performances from police personnel’s wards included Humaira Jan and Duha Rashid, both securing 99% in class 10th. Muntazir Farooq and Minza Lone achieved 98.8%, and Sabreena Mushtaq scored 98.6%.The scholarship schemes by Jammu and Kashmir Police extend to supporting wards of serving, deceased and martyred police personnel/SPOs across various academic levels. Additionally, special rewards are allocated for exceptional performances in college, universities, and technical courses, while competitive exam achievements in UPSC, JKPSC, NEET, NET, CSIR, etc., are also acknowledged.This initiative aimed to boost morale, instil competitiveness, and recognize academic excellence among the wards of police personnel and SPOs, fostering a culture of educational achievement within the community.
