Maharashtra on high, pressure on Karnataka

Hyderabad, Jan 28:
On the face of it, the ensuing showdown will be a battle between two teams that are poles apart both in terms of strengths and composition.    Karnataka has been there and done that on umpteen occasions while its opponent will be fancying its best chance in recent years to enjoy a slice of history of its own accord.
Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is all geared up to host the finals of a Ranji Trophy for only the second time in its history. The earlier one was when it hosted the Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh 2008-09 championship clash.    Things are going ahead at a frenzied pace at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium (RGICS), which hopes to provide a thriller from Wednesday to Sunday.    Karnataka cannot discount the calibre of Maharashtra or the wherewithal at their disposal because although they are the surprise in this season’s pack, the morale of the players has been bolstered to significant levels after having made it to the final even as it announced that it was ready for the big league in domestic supremacy.    This point was more than underlined by team skipper, Rohit Motwani, at a pre-match press conference here today.    He said the confidence level was of a very high order following the dream run.
