JU defeats Akola University Nagpur by 80 runs

JAMMU, Jan 1: University of Jammu defeated Akola University Nagpur by 80 runs to register their 4th win in an ongoing All India Vice Chancellor’s Cup 2023 here today.
Opted to bat first, Jammu University managed to score 219 for the loss of 10 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Shantul Raina scores 77, Vishal Sudan 38, Niranjan 29, Raj Kumar 25, Rajesh 16 and Aman 14 were the highest run scorers for University of Jammu. For Akola University Dr P.M Tayade took 4 wickets for 28 runs and Vivek Satar took 3 wickets for 41 runs.
While chasing the target, Akola University Nagpur fell in 19.3 overs for 139 runs and lost the game by 80 runs. Prem Dass scored 22 runs; Deven 25 and Neeraj 24 were the highest scorer. In bowling, University of Jammu’s Raj Kumar Bakshi took 3 wickets for 35 runs in 4 overs; Amin took 2 wickets while Balwant Singh, Rajesh and Shantul took 1 wicket each. Shantul Raina was declared as man of the match for the 3rd time in the All India Vice Chancellor Cup 2023.
Team was accompanied by the Manager Sanjeet Singh, Assistant Manager Mohit Sharma and cricket coach University of Jammu Raj Kumar Bakshi. Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports and Physical Education University of Jammu appreciated the team and officials.
