Maharashtra, Goa in Santosh Trophy finals

Vasco (Goa), Feb 3:
Maharashtra hammered Madhya Pradesh 6-1 in their group ‘A’ league match to qualify for the final round of the Santosh Trophy at Tilak Stadium here today.
In another match, played in Mapusa, Goa beat Puducherry 2-0 with goals from Agnelo Colaco and Alvito Miranda.
Maharashtra and Goa who topped their respective groups with six points each have qualified from West Zone for the final round to be played at Sulguri later this month.
Favourites Maharashtra, who needed a draw to advance to the final round, dominated throughout. They scored through Allan Dias (15th) Lineker Machedo (38th), Paresh Shivalkar (60th, 71st), Steven Dias (87th) and substitute Royston D’Souza (88th).
Madhya Pradesh, who wasted a penalty after rival keeper Lihaz Koya saved Nukul Singh shot, pulled one back through Bidan Das in the 90th minute.
Maharashtra were reduced to 10 men in the dying minutes after substitute Royston D’Souza was sent out for getting double booking. (PTI)
