JAMMU, Feb 4: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din inaugurated the upgraded skating rink and basketball court at MA Stadium here today.
MLA, Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria was present on the occasion.
The Minister also flagged off the inaugural skating race on the occasion, symbolising with the inauguration.
Mr. Taj also inaugurated the modernised synthetic basketball court at the stadium. Laid with Astroturf, the basketball court is first of its kind in Jammu which can cater to the matches of national standard.
Later, the Minister visited various construction sites at the MA Stadium. He visited the under construction swimming pool, indoor sports halls and also visited the main pavilion to inspect the refurbishing process of the main pavilion.
Mr. Taj impressed upon the Sports Council executives to complete the works within the fixed targets. He said Government plans to strengthen and augment sports facilities both at Jammu and Srinagar and in all districts.
The Minister said Government has already started developing all weather sports complexes at block levels so that youth do not have to face climatic problems while playing.
Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Dileep Thusu, joint secretary Siddarth Sharma, members Ranjeet Kalra and Vijay Gupta were present on the occasion.
