JAMMU, Jan 16: In a display of exceptional skill and determination, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Fencing Sabre team (U-14) secured a silver medal at the 67th National School Games of India held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. The event, which brought together young talents from across the nation, witnessed an outstanding performance from the J&K contingent.
The winning silver medalist team from J&K comprised four outstanding fencers Devkaran Singh Jamwal, Vansh Raina, Vinayak and Atulaya. These young athletes showcased remarkable teamwork and individual prowess, earning accolades from spectators and fellow competitors alike.
Notably, Devkaran Singh Jamwal, a standout performer from the J&K team, also secured a Bronze medal in the Individual Sabre event, further adding to the J&K’s achievements in the prestigious tournament. His skill and tenacity on the fencing strip did not go unnoticed, making him a double medalist in this edition of the National School Games.
The officials from the Department of Youth Services and Sports, who accompanied the talented athletes to the event, played a crucial role in ensuring the smooth participation of the J&K contingent. Ujjwal Gupta, Tony Mattoo, Rajni Jamwal and Gh. Mohammad Mir provided guidance, support and encouragement to the young fencers throughout the competition.
