Imbibe moral values among students: Bhalla to teachers

JAMMU, Feb 5: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla has called upon the parents to send   wards to schools for their better future and enable them to contribute in the development of the country.
He asked the teachers to imbibe moral values among the students, besides helping them in their academic excellence.
The Minister was speaking at   annual day function of Mohammad Ilyas Memorial School at Bathindi, here today.
Ex-Member Legislative Assembly Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon, Principal of the school, besides prominent citizens, students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff members were also present on the occasion.
To celebrate the annual day, the students of the school presented a colourful cultural program which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Appreciating the efforts of school management in arranging such a wonderful cultural programme in school premises, the Minister said such type of events not only provide  platform to the students in showing their hidden talent but also educate  them about rich culture and heritage of the State.
Mr. Bhalla further said that the Government is making all out efforts to expand the reach of education to farthest areas by opening new schools within every half  kilometre to one kilometre distance . He informed that in this regard Government is remitting fee and also providing free uniform and books to those poor children who are not getting education due to financial constraints.
Mr. Bhalla highlighted the role of the teachers and parents in the life of the children. He asked the students to work hard and show their excellence in coming exams. He said education is vital for their better tomorrow and asked students to share their knowledge with each other.
Responding to the demand of locals, Mr. Bhalla informed that a proposal on upgradation of Government High School Bathindi to Higher Secondary level is under active consideration. He said for speedy development of the area, the Government has granted Bahu tehsil   .
The Minister informed that creation of new administrative units across the State will facilitate the people with better   social services.
Later, Mr Bhalla distributed mementos among the students who brought laurels for the schools during 2012-13 session.
