JAMMU, Jan 19: Exclusive Sessions on UAVs and Drones were organized for the students of Jodhamal Public School by IIT Jammu. Spanning over two days, the sessions included theory and hands-on practical experiences in which the Jodhamal students learnt to assemble and manoeuvre drones. Forty five students from class 6 to 11 participated in these invigorating sessions resourced under the technical mentorship of buddy graduate and post graduate engineers of IIT Jammu.
In the month of February, Jodhamal School is going to have one of the first Drone challenge competition to be held in a school in India. The following teams of Jodhamal School who are participating in the challenge are Udaan, Matrix, Ajax, Aeroflight, Aeolus, Horizon and Pawanputra.
During the technical session, the mentors briefed students about the scope and scale of this technology in recent applications including surveillance, farming, space missions, wars etc. During Practical workshops, students were also briefed about various flying objects, like gliders, aeroplanes, control panels etc. Apart from this, various other soft skills were also taught during the sessions, followed by a handy round of quiz.
As an overview, the session was very informative and praiseworthy, as it helped students to enhance their scientific & conceptual skills with a fair insight of drones and UAVs, applications involving principles of physics and aerodynamics etc. Towards the end of the programme, students were able to understand basic concepts involved in the making of UAVs and Drones. Neetu Johri coordinated the whole programme from the School’s side.
