JAMMU, Feb 6: Secretary to Govt Cooperative Department R. K. Koul in a meeting of State, Divisional and District level officers today reviewed working of the Department.
During the meeting a detailed review of various schemes under implementation in the department along with the achievements during the current year was taken.
It was disclosed in the meeting that during the year 2012-13, Cooperative Institutions have conducted fertilizer business of about Rs. 11168.03 lakh and consumer business of about Rs. 7152.93 lakh.
During the current financial year, as many as 58 economically viable Cooperative Societies and Cooperatives have been registered under various disciplines having a membership of 1151 educated unemployed youth.
Similarly, the schemes under implementation with funding from National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) were also discussed viz-a-viz the achievements. It was stated by the participating officers that under the scheme “Development of Commercial Poultry under Cooperative Sector” 28 and 48 Projects have been sanctioned by NCDC respectively in two phases.
Under the Integrated Cooperative Development Projects (ICDP) which are under implementation in the districts of Anantnag and Kathua, 113 beneficiary societies have been provided Rs. 453.62 lakh which is a mix of loan, share capital and subsidy.
During the meeting, it was also disclosed that two Women Credit Cooperatives have been registered in Jammu and Kashmir Divisions and they  are progressing towards obtaining RBI license for working as full-fledged Women Cooperative Banks.
It was appraised in the meeting that the erstwhile Milk Federations have been liquidated and the role of Umbrella Organization has been entrusted to Jammu and Kashmir Milk Producers Cooperative Ltd; which is an apex level Self-reliant Dairy Cooperative.
Secretary Cooperatives directed the field functionaries to make vigorous efforts to ensure that the Cooperative Movement becomes a game changer in the socio-economic milieu of State as it has the potential to act as a catalyst to bring about a social change as also spur economic development.
The meeting was also attended by Mohammad Akbar Ganaie, Special Secretary Cooperatives, Sheila Bhagat, Additional Registrar, Jammu, Anjana Tickoo,l Joint Registrar (B&F), Tanvir Iqbal Malik, Joint Registrar (Audit) Jammu, Kusum Badyal, Joint Registrar (Special), Jammu,  M. A. Malik, Dy Registrar (Counsel) and other district level officers of the Cooperative Department.
