UDHAMPUR, Feb 6: A CRPF Sub Inspector on duty was knocked to death by a speeding truck on the National Highway near Batote.
The deceased has been identified as Sub Inspector Yash Pul Choudari (52), son of Nonihal Sai Dass of Nowshera. He belonged to 84th Battalion of CRPF.
The incident took place this morning around 7:20 a.m when a speeding truck, bearing registration number JK05-5886, hit Yah Paul during ROP duty. The critically injured CRPF cop was rushed to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After postmortem, the body was handed over to 84 Battalion CRPF officials.
The accused driver namely Sjabat Husan of Uri was arrested on the spot and vehicle was also seized. Batote Police has registered a case in this connection.
Meanwhile, two pedestrians were injured in separate road accidents in Udhampur district.
An unknown vehicle hit Koushalya Devi wife of late Chuni Lal of Manpa Udhampur near Mini Bus Stand Udhampur. Locals took her to District Hospital Udhampur.
Another pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Dhar Road Udhampur. The injured was identified as Arti daughter of Rattan Lal of Ku Nalha Udhampur.
