Umar takes fifer as J&K gains vital 1st innings lead over Baroda

JAMMU, Jan 28: Bamboozling the rival batters, Speedster Umar Nazir captured 5 wickets to help Jammu and Kashmir gain a vital first innings lead of 74 runs over formidable Baroda in the Ranji Trophy Group-D match at Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara today.
J&K were 26/0 at the draw of stumps on day-3 today. Skipper Shubham Khajuria (10) and Qamran Iqbal (11) were at the crease. Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 177/4, Baroda managed to score 383 runs to concede a lead of 74 runs to Jammu and Kashmir. Shivalik Sharma scored a magnificent century, scoring 138 runs off 238 balls, studded with 13 boundaries, while Mahesh Pithiya scored 50 runs off 109 balls studded with 9 boundaries. Earlier, JK Singh scored 79 runs, while Kinit Patel (45) and NA Rathva (27) also contributed to the team’s total.
Umar Nazir was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 5 wickets by conceding 91 runs in his 25 overs, while Sahil Lotra took 3 wickets by giving away 67 runs in his 28 overs. Auqib Nabi also claimed one wicket.
