JAMMU, Feb 8 : Dogra Law College (DLC), organized “3rd Matushri Inter-School Debate contest” on the topic “In the opinion of this house, Modern Scientific Technology has eroded the childhood of today’s generation”.
About 23 participants from different schools of the Jammu District participated in the contest.
On the occasion, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla was the chief guest while Ex-Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak presided over the function.
While speaking on the occasion, Bhalla asked the teachers to work sincerely and impart quality education to their students to make them ready for future challenges. He said, along with their studies, the students should take equal interest in extra-curricular activities for an all-round personality development. “The students should strive hard to achieve their desired goals and bring laurels to the state both in sports and academic,” he added. He also stressed on the need of introducing moral education in the schools.
Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Dogra Law College, in his presidential address highlighted the importance of organizing such type of debate competitions. He said holding of such events provides an opportunity to young minds and gives them exposure.
Earlier, Prof B D Damral, Director Academics Dogra Educational Trust, in his welcome address, said that the conduct of Matushri Inter-school Debate contest every year is an attempt of Dogra Educational Trust to aware students about new trends.
Prof R P Sharma, former Head Department of English University of Jammu, Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal Dogra College of Education and Sheetal Gupta from Dogra Law College were the Jury members.
Diksha Bogal from BSF Senior Secondary School Paloura bagged the first prize with a cash prize of Rs 1000, second prize won by Muskan Puri from Jodhamal Public School with a cash prize of Rs 700, while the third prize was won by Ratandeep Sharma from Delhi Public school with a cash prize of Rs 500.
First consolation prize was won by Ananya Sharma from Jodhamal Public School with a cash prize of Rs 300 and 2nd consolation was won by Antriksh Singh from Delhi Public School with a cash prize of Rs 300.
Samar Dev Singh Charak Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Ghambir Dev Singh Charak, Member Trustee and Dr Anu Mankotia, Principal, Dogra Law College were also present on the occasion.
Shagufta Anjum, Academic Coordinator, Dogra Law College and Nidhi Bhargava Lecturer in Law were the Stage secretaries. Sonia Gupta delivered the vote of thanks.
